KGMU Trauma Centre & Emergency 2026: Contact, Location & Patient Guide

KGMU Emergency & Trauma Centre provides emergency and trauma services separately from routine OPD appointments. For an active medical emergency, use the emergency pathway directly rather than waiting for an OPD slot or trying to complete routine registration first.

Routine OPD vs KGMU emergency care

Routine OPD

Used for planned consultations, scheduled follow-ups and department clinic visits. These follow the appointment/registration and recurring OPD timetable.

Emergency / Trauma Centre

Used for emergency assessment and trauma pathways. An emergency visit should not be delayed while trying to find a routine department slot.

What happens after reaching the Trauma Centre

Emergency workflows depend on the patient’s condition and the clinical team. The Trauma Centre directory includes Emergency Medicine, Pathology collection, CT, ultrasound, neurological/neurosurgical and orthopaedic trauma areas, Pediatric Emergency, PICU/NICU and other critical services. Follow the hospital staff route after arrival rather than trying to self-select an emergency specialty.

KGMU Pediatric Emergency

Pediatric Emergency is published on the fourth floor of the Trauma Centre and provides round-the-clock emergency services. This is separate from routine Pediatrics OPD in New OPD.

KGMU Trauma Centre tests and imaging

The internal directory lists Pathology Collection, ABG laboratory, CT Scan and USG rooms/counters on the Trauma Centre ground floor. Emergency investigations are ordered through the emergency clinical workflow rather than through the routine OPD lab route.

Emergency documents and registration

Carry available patient identity and previous hospital information when practical, but do not delay emergency care solely to assemble routine OPD documents. Once the patient is under care, attendants can follow the registration and administrative instructions given by Trauma Centre staff.

Exact movement inside the Trauma Centre is directed by hospital staff according to the emergency workflow.

Attendant planning at KGMU Trauma Centre

If you are accompanying a patient, keep the patient identity and available prior records accessible, note the reception/contact numbers, and follow the registration/payment/investigation instructions given by Trauma Centre staff. Avoid leaving an unstable patient to complete nonessential paperwork before clinical assessment.
