New OPD: floors and common patient services
New OPD is one of the main outpatient buildings. The internal directory lists registration counters on the ground floor and multiple specialty clinics across upper floors. A room number should always be tied to the department because the building contains many unrelated services.
First floor
Pathology and Microbiology report/cash counters and related laboratory rooms are listed in the New OPD directory.
Third floor
Neurology and several other specialty rooms are located here. Neurology schedule/location data uses rooms in the 301–306 range.
Fourth floor
Urology and Pediatrics use fourth-floor New OPD rooms; Medical Gastroenterology also has New OPD rooms in the building.
Old OPD
Old OPD remains important for selected services. The routine Ophthalmology OPD is on the third floor of Old OPD, while Biochemistry outpatient sample collection is at Room 1 on the ground floor.
Shatabdi Hospital Phase I and Phase II
Shatabdi Phase I
Nephrology is associated with Shatabdi Phase I, including ward/dialysis/transplant infrastructure. The exact routine outpatient reporting point should follow the current Nephrology instruction.
Shatabdi Phase II
Medical Gastroenterology department, ward and endoscopy infrastructure are associated with the sixth floor, even though routine Medical Gastroenterology OPD is published in New OPD. This is why “department location” and “OPD location” are stored separately.
Lari Cardiology, Queen Mary and Dental
Lari Cardiology
Cardiology uses its own facility context across Shah Mina Road from the Trauma Centre; the campus map identifies Cardiology OPD, Cardiology Old Building and Cardiology New Wing separately.
Queen Mary Hospital
Queen Mary is KGMU’s Obstetrics & Gynaecology hospital and contains ANC, Gynaecology, postnatal, maternity, newborn and specialist services.
New Dental
New Dental is a major Faculty of Dental Sciences facility serving several dental departments, but individual clinics can still differ within the Dental Faculty.
OPD location vs department vs ward vs procedure
| Label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| OPD location | Where the routine outpatient consultation is published. |
| Department location | Office/departmental base; not always the routine OPD. |
| Ward / inpatient | Area for admitted patients. |
| Procedure location | Endoscopy, cath lab, procedure suite or other service. |
| Laboratory | Sample collection, report or diagnostic area. |
| Emergency | Trauma/emergency route, separate from routine OPD. |
How to find a KGMU room before travelling
- Search the department in the Campus Navigator.
- Prefer a location labelled OPD for a routine consultation.
- If the result says “verify for this visit,” check the current appointment or hospital signage because no precise room is verified.
- Use the schedule page to confirm whether the department/clinic is expected on that day.
KGMU locations for popular departments
| Department / service | Patient-facing location |
|---|---|
| Neurology | New OPD, 3rd Floor, rooms 301/302/305/306 |
| Urology | New OPD, 4th Floor, rooms 420/421 |
| Medical Gastroenterology | New OPD, rooms 312/317/318/319 |
| Ophthalmology | Old OPD, 3rd Floor |
| Psychiatry | Gate No. 15, in front of Trauma Centre |
| Cardiology | Lari Cardiology / Cardiology OPD |
| Obstetrics & Gynaecology | Queen Mary Hospital |
| Pediatric Emergency | Trauma Centre, 4th Floor |
How to use a KGMU room number
A room number is useful only with the building/floor context. Room 420, for example, is meaningful because it is tied to Urology in New OPD. Avoid searching a room number in isolation when the appointment names a facility or specialty.
