Find the right KGMU Dental department
Find a KGMU department
Select a department or search its common patient-facing name such as ENT, Eye, Gastro, Lari, RCT or Braces.
Where is KGMU Dental?
The KGMU campus map identifies New Dental as a major Dental Faculty facility and associates several clinical specialties with it. Individual departments can still have separate UG/PG clinics, counters or procedure areas, so use the department-specific location when one is available.
KGMU root canal / RCT
Root canal and endodontic care falls under Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics. The website can route a patient to the department, but the actual treatment plan is decided after dental examination.
KGMU braces / Orthodontics
Braces and orthodontic care belong to Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics. Appointment length, appliance type and treatment duration depend on the clinical assessment.
KGMU Pediatric Dentistry
Children’s dental care is handled through Paediatric & Preventive Dentistry, which is separate from KGMU Pediatrics medical OPD.
KGMU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is a separate Dental Faculty surgical department with UG/PG clinics, Minor OT and ward infrastructure. Follow that department when it is written on the referral or Dental Faculty record.
KGMU gum treatment / Periodontology
Periodontal/gum care belongs to the Periodontology department. Do not confuse it with Oral Medicine or Conservative Dentistry when the record already names the department.
KGMU dentures / Prosthodontics
Prosthodontics & Crown/Bridge covers prosthetic dental rehabilitation. Different restorative services can overlap between specialties, so use the department assigned after evaluation.
Dental appointment and follow-up
- Keep the exact dental department name.
- Keep the previous Dental Faculty slip/treatment record.
- Bring dental imaging already requested or performed.
- Follow the scheduled procedure/clinic instructions for ongoing multi-visit treatment.
KGMU Oral Medicine & Radiology
Oral Medicine & Radiology is the Dental Faculty specialty for oral-medicine evaluation and dental/oral imaging. It is separate from Oral Surgery and Oral Pathology, even though those specialties can work together in complex cases.
KGMU Oral Pathology & Microbiology
Oral Pathology & Microbiology is a Dental Faculty department focused on oral pathology and laboratory evaluation. It should not be confused with the general medical Pathology department serving hospital samples.
KGMU Public Health Dentistry
Public Health Dentistry is part of the Faculty of Dental Sciences and focuses on preventive/community oral-health services. Its patient pathway differs from chairside specialty departments such as Endodontics, Orthodontics or Oral Surgery.
First dental visit vs ongoing treatment
First visit
If you do not yet know the specialty, follow the Dental Faculty registration/evaluation route. Avoid choosing a surgical or procedure department solely from an internet symptom search.
Returning patient
Use the department, clinic and treatment plan on the existing Dental Faculty record. Dental care often takes multiple visits, so preserving the treatment record and next appointment is important.
KGMU dental treatment charges
Some dental departments have procedure price lists, but the correct charge depends on the procedure/material and can change. The guide should show a charge only when it is tied to a current department source; treatment suitability and final cost are confirmed after clinical evaluation.
