KGMU Patient Route Finder: Plan OPD, Follow-Up & Location

The KGMU Patient Route Finder combines department, visit type, recurring schedule and patient-facing location so a patient can move from “I need to visit this department” to the next practical step. It is most useful when the department is already known from a referral, appointment or previous KGMU record.

Patient Route Finder

Plan your KGMU visit

Choose the task first, then the department already named on your referral, appointment or previous KGMU record. The finder organizes hospital navigation; it does not diagnose symptoms.

Choose a task to start. For a department visit, select the exact department already shown on your KGMU document or referral.

What the KGMU Route Finder can help with

How to plan a first KGMU visit

  1. Select the department already named on the referral.
  2. Check whether an online appointment is available.
  3. Review the department’s recurring OPD schedule.
  4. Open the patient-facing location in the Campus Navigator.
  5. Keep the booking confirmation and patient identity details for registration.

How to plan a KGMU follow-up visit

Returning patients should begin with the previous KGMU record rather than a generic department search. A written unit, clinic or return date can completely change the correct day.

Examples of KGMU routes

Neurology follow-up

A Wednesday Neurology follow-up may depend on the week of the month because specialty clinics such as Epilepsy, Headache, Movement Disorder, Dementia, Stroke or Neuromuscular services can be scheduled differently.

Orthopaedic follow-up

Select the existing unit first. Orthopaedic units have separate Main OPD and Follow-Up OPD days, so returning on the Main OPD day can be the wrong route for a follow-up patient.

Queen Mary ANC

A planned antenatal visit should route to Queen Mary Hospital and the ANC pathway rather than the general New OPD route.

Lari Cardiology

A routine Cardiology visit uses the Lari Cardiology OPD route; an active cardiac emergency follows the separate emergency/ICCU pathway.

When the Route Finder should not be used

The tool is not a symptom checker and does not decide which specialty a person medically needs. If the department is unknown, use the referral/hospital direction or seek appropriate clinical advice rather than treating an online navigation tool as diagnosis.

What the Route Finder result means

A route result is a navigation summary built from the structured KGMU data in this guide. It can show the recurring department day, unit/clinic and patient-facing location where those details are verified. It does not replace the date-specific appointment confirmation or written follow-up instruction.

Route Finder and the KGMU tools

The Route Finder connects the other tools rather than replacing them. Department Finder resolves the specialty name, Schedule Finder shows the recurring roster, Campus Navigator finds the patient-facing location, and the Appointment/Registration guides explain what happens before the consultation.

Frequently asked questions

Can the Route Finder book my KGMU appointment?

It can take you to the appointment guide and official booking portal; the actual booking is completed in the patient appointment system.

Does it show live doctor attendance?

No. It uses the latest recurring schedule stored in the guide.

Why does it ask for unit or clinic?

Some departments use different days for units, follow-up sessions or specialty clinics.

Can I use it for Queen Mary and Lari?

Yes, the route logic includes major KGMU facility pathways.

What if my current KGMU slip conflicts with the result?

Follow the latest hospital appointment, prescription or written instruction and use the guide to clarify the surrounding schedule/location context.
